Donna & Gaz- The King & Queen of Fun

This wedding was a wonderfully laid back affair. The ceremony was in the quaint Church of St Mary in the rural location of Studley. It was a gorgeous Church and luckily for me the lighting in there was actually pretty good!

After the ceremony we had some group photographs in the Church grounds and whilst (praise the lord) it had stopped raining it was possibly one of the windiest days of the year and so trying to get a shot where people’s hair wasn’t in their faces and the veil wasn’t shooting around everywhere proved to be quite a task! However I think I just about did it haha.

Then it was onto the evening do, the turn out for this was amazing, you could tell Donna & Gaz are very loved as they had so many guests turn up, the room was filled! The first dance was also possibly the best thing I have ever seen, the bridal party had been taking dancing lessons for weeks before the big day and sporadically joined in after the bride and grooms romantic start. As you can tell from the photos this was such a surprise for everyone it really made the night.

Faking It

Today was the day I photographed two of my bestest friends tying the knot!

Except it wasn’t quite a real wedding… I bought the dress and the veil from ebay and luckily the groom had a suit already. We set up the whole day mainly with the intention for some nice images to go on my website and instagram. Much to her delight my mother had three roles, the make up artist, the hair stylist and the mother of the bride.

I find that when I have a wedding to photograph I don’t get the chance to pose people exactly where I would like them and there isn’t bags of time to really experiment with different shots. My approach is to hang back and just document the day as it happens  which means that often the lighting isn’t how I would like it and it can be quite hectic.

Who wants me telling them to sit by the window looking out into the distance dreamily for the 10th time when really the the bridesmaids need organising, the hair stylist is late and the dog is trying to chew the wedding veil.

So it was really enjoyable to be able to take my time, direct my friends exactly how I wanted them and place them in the setting that I liked. I am in love with the pictures, there are so many nice ones- however I can only upload 20 on my blog. Thank you Becky & Ben for agreeing to it on one the muggiest days of the year!

P.s I’m very impressed with how Becky’s hair turned out considering I have never done an updo on anyone before! Perhaps I should take up wedding hair too ;)
